The All-American Rejects: Kids In The Street Review

Synopsis:
The All-American Rejects are a pop rock band that formed in Stillwater, Oklahoma, United States in the late 1990s by high school friends Tyson Ritter (on vocals, bass, piano) and Nick Wheeler (lead guitar, vocals and keys). Other current members are Chris Gaylor (on drums and percussion) and Mike Kennerty (rhythm guitar and vocals). They released their first independent album in the spring of 2000, and eventually built up a large local fanbase.

Review:
I will be the first to admit that this album was not on my wish list. The All American Rejects strayed from their Alt Rock/Indie sound to play Pop Rock for the masses. That being said this album is very impressive, they have created a sound far from anything previous. There is so much experimentation in this album that people that hate All American Rejects will at the very least have to acknowledge the change of pace. Tyson still brings his powerful pipes that much has stayed the same the real difference is about the instruments. There are mixes of Electronic, Orchestral, and even some Southern Jazz in the background. While there are a couple cringe worthy radio tracks such as Heartbeat Slowing Down, which are clearly aimed to appease those that love Pop Rock All American Rejects. It is tough the recommend a track that showcases this album “Bleed Into Your Mind” and “Someday’s Gone” are some of the more unique hits. If they continue this experimental route or even settle down to a Soft Rock/Indie sound then I might potentially be an All American Rejects fan again…maybe…
