Glass Cloud: The Royal Thousand Review

Synopsis:
After years of touring and performing around the world with various bands, vocalist Jerry Roush finally has a band to call his own. The former frontman for Sky Eats Airplane and Of Mice & Men has joined forces with 8-string guitarist Joshua Travis (The Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza), bassist Travis Sykes and drummer Chad Hasty to create Glass Cloud.

Review:
There were plenty of expectations going into this album, especially with the talent behind it. Glass Cloud has created a debut album that lingers in your membranes long after the music stops. Jerry Roush has always been very experimental with melding sounds together which got him into confrontations with previous members before. In his own right Glass Cloud was the perfect solution, a new band with no original sound, he could strive for anything. Starting with “White Flag” the soundscapes created by this quartet are evident, and the rest to the album did not fail to disappoint. Every song may sound disassembled at first, but there is a science behind the sound and Glass Cloud does a thrilling job of creating musical theater with instruments. Jerry’s gritty vocals fall in tandem with the guitar riffs and unique song writing you are left with pure music. There is so much potential and talent spread among every single member of Glass Cloud. My hopes are that this band does not get scared straight back into the old habits of other bands in their genre. For a debut album from and alleged “super group” this was a spectacular showing and other artist should take notice that not every band needs to copy each other.
