Of Mice and Men: The Flood Review

Synopsis:
Of Mice & Men is an American post-hardcore/metalcore band from Costa Mesa, California. The group was founded by Austin Carlile and Jaxin Hall during mid-2009 after Carlile's departure from Attack Attack! Their band name is derived from the novella of the same title.

Review:
The awaited arrival of “The Flood” is over, and it is quite the album. There has been plenty of drama surrounding this band, many had doubts if they could pick up the pieces and move on. After listening to this album multiple times I have no fears to the talent this entire crew possesses and with Austin back at the helm nothing can stop this band. The tracks flow very well into each other especially the transition between “My Understandings” and “Ohioisonfire”. There is plenty to love about this album and the band truly put all their effort into evolving their sound without losing the old value they obtained. Of Mice and Men has put everything they know and love into this album and it will stand as a testament of progression in music for any band that tries to rival them. “The Flood” has a great balance of all sounds which is tough to do with so many talented members in the same group. One big difference I did notice from the first album is that there wasn’t 1 track that stood out from the rest like “Second and Sebring”. This is neither a good or bad thing, and maybe over time one track will grow a following over the rest, but there was no immediate stand out. That little note aside,”Welcome Back Of Mice and Men, and I will see you on Warped Tour…so you should toss me some backstage passes (wink wink)”.
