I See Stars: Digital Renegade Review

Synopsis:
I See Stars are a post-hardcore band formed in Warren, Michigan in 2006. The band’s lineup is Devin Oliver, Brent Allen, Jimmy Gregerson, Jeff Valentine, Andrew Oliver, and Zach Johnson. Johnson left the band after their debut album 3D was released, and Chris Moore took his place at screamed vocals/keys/programming. Johnson returned after Moore left the band due to “artistic differences” and joined the band on Warped Tour 2010. 3D was released through Sumerian Records, where they’ve since remained.

Review:
I See Stars hits home again with another album blending their electronic and metalcore skills. Digital Renegade hits harder in every single aspect whether it be electronics, vocals, or guitar riffs. Oliver has fine-tuned his vocal prowess and hits some amazing high notes. There are just so many tracks that are genre blending in unique ways giving us a stellar experience after only a year since The End Of The World Party. With that being said they in no way have isolated fans of the original I See Stars sound, thus broadening their horizon even further. The melding of drum beats with synthesizers is mesmerizing at times, showing a serious refinement in I See Stars studio work. “Electric Forest” though more of a pop song has such a broad spectrum of sound that it is a prime example of their new sound. These guys have matured in leaps and bounds; I wouldn’t expect to see them stop any time soon.
