Say Anything: Anarchy, My Dear Review

Synopsis:
Say Anything is an alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, United States in 2001. Originally dubbed Say Anything, the band now consists of founding members Max Bemis (vocals/guitar) and Coby Linder (drums), along with Jake Turner (guitar), Jeff Turner (guitar) and Parker Case (keyboard). Say Anything began their career when the band was still in high school. They self-released two EP’s and one LP entitled Baseball.

Review:
Max Bemis returns bringing his emo music writing talents to Anarchy, My Dear. After almost a decade he seems to have found his stride with this album and the musical value shows. Aside from some “Hipster” appealing tracks, and yes that is an appropriate stereotype. Anarchy, My Dear offers Bemis at his finest, crafting some of the greatest songs Say Anything has to date. “Overbiter” which is one of the albums strongest songs also offers guest vocals from Sherri DuPree-Bemis, Max’s wife. She often has guest vocals, but this is the first album where she truly seems to fit perfectly. While overall the album tends to sound scatter plotted with greater focus on lyrical content and theme Say Anything can certainly make a great leap forward.
